DFW Wimbum Inc Celebrates Love, Legacy, and Cultural Unity on Valentine’s Day
The DFW regular, monthly meeting of February 7th, 2026, was shifted to the second Saturday of the month as most members were scheduled to attend and pay their last respects to Honorable, Esther Ngala, a Mbum elite, who sadly passed away earlier this year. The rescheduled meeting date, Saturday, February 14th coincided with Valentines Day. As the DFW community gathered for the meeting, the second phase was planned for a memorable Valentine’s Day event that beautifully blended purpose, fellowship, and celebration. The evening opened with the group’s regular business meeting and seamlessly transitioned into a vibrant observance of love and marriage—an experience that left members both inspired and uplifted.
A major highlight of the evening was the special recognition of two remarkable couples whose stories reflected both legacy and new beginnings. Dr. and Mrs. Emmanuel and Susana Ngwang were honored for their extraordinary 48 years of marriage, a milestone that drew admiration from across the room. They were joined in the spotlight by Mr. and Mrs. Daniel and Liza Lemons, who were celebrated warmly as the community’s newlyweds.
During an engaging and heartfelt discussion, the Ngwangs shared wisdom drawn from nearly five decades of marital experience. They emphasized that intentional communication remains the cornerstone of a strong and enduring marriage. They also offered thoughtful guidance on the role of extended family, noting that family members are meant to support—not take over—the marriage relationship. Encouraging couples to remain grounded in friendship, they reminded attendees that agreement does not always mean full acceptance; often, it reflects a willingness to understand and respect the other person’s perspective.
Both honored couples also highlighted the beauty and growth that come with cross-cultural marriage. The Lemons shared that one of the greatest strengths in their union has been their mutual acceptance of each other’s cultures and their intentional willingness to assimilate with openness and respect. Their reflections resonated deeply with members and sparked meaningful conversation.
The evening continued with an interactive question-and-answer session filled with humor and cultural pride. In a lighthearted moment that drew laughter from the audience, the group consensus playfully affirmed that the Wimbum man is “romantic,” while the Wimbum woman is “responsively romantic.”
True to Wimbum spirit, the celebration flowed into lively games, music, and dancing, creating an atmosphere of joy and togetherness. The group also took a thoughtful moment to acknowledge unmarried members, offering warm blessings and encouragement for their future journeys in love and partnership.
Elegantly adorned in vibrant shades of red, black, and pink, and accented with beautiful roses, the venue reflected the glamour and warmth of the occasion. The Valentine’s gathering stood as a powerful reminder that the strength of the DFW Wimbum community lies in its unity, cultural pride, and unwavering commitment to uplifting families across generations.
In unity and service,
Ma Njuh, Dr. Nora Billodeaux
